Danya & Bryan ~ DC Engagement Photographer

I met up with Dayna & Bryan a few weeks ago on the National Mall for their engagement session. Dayna is from Kansas and Bryan just finished his PhD at the University of Maryland. They are getting married in Kansas this fall but since their relationship formed between both states they wanted to document both places. Emailing back and forth with Dayna was so fun! I could tell how much she loved Bryan and her excitement for their session was so evident. The day of the session did not disappoint and we had gorgeous weather!!

They had originally wanted a cherry blossom session, but with the warmer temps this year we missed the cherry blossoms 🙁 I heard that these are another kind of cherry blossom though, so we didn’t fully miss them..maybe 🙂

Bryan proposed at “The Signers of the Declaration Memorial” in the National Mall area so they asked to incorporate it into their session. The memorial is a park area with these gorgeous willows. Aren’t willows just so romantic?

Hi there! ~ Northern Virginia Photographer

I promise I am still around 🙂 This time of year always gets crazy with the business side of running a photography business. A lot of people ask me around this time of year, “are you excited to start working again?!?!”. I just have to chuckle 🙂 I have heard it said many times that running a photography business is 90% business and only 10% photography. This is soooo true!!! There are so many things that go into running a business and while I am better at some than others, they all have to be done. So, I have been working on taxes, tracking miles for all of 2011 (yes I am so bad and only wrote down where the appointments/sessions were and had to go back with Google maps), lots of networking meetings, etc. The season is starting for me though and last week I had 3 portrait sessions that I am excited to share with you soon! Until then enjoy a few sneak peaks 🙂

Lauren & Nick ~ Arlington, VA Engagement Photographer

In general we have had a very mild winter here in the Northern Virginia area. Take today for example, it was something like 58 degrees! I was able to take a walk with my puppy for almost 2.5 miles and with only a hoodie on! We have had a few days though that were unbearable cold (especially since we are not used to it right now). Well, it was on one of those days that Lauren & Nick met up with me for their engagement session 🙂 Nick is military and was only in town for a handful of days and that day was the only day we could do their engagement session. We had a great time though! I might have looked like the una-bomber in my outfit (layers upon layers with a hoodie under my coat), but it made for good laughs 🙂

Since Nick is Air Force they decided that they would like that to be part of their session. We ended up using the Air Force memorial and then heading over to the Potomac River for a few shots as well.

Lauren & Nick – It was a blast! Thanks for being such troopers in the freezing temps and I can’t wait till your June wedding!

They love the water so much! So after we warmed up some we headed over to Gravely Point and grabbed a few images of them with the water.

Prettier….

Well, after having it on my to-do list for over 6 months I have finally been able to give the blog a face lift!!! I tried the smaller images for a year and while yes there are some pros to having the smaller images, I really do love them bigger 🙂 So, enjoy the new look and look for lots of new posts coming soon! Until then here is a session that I will be blogging in the next few days.

Sarah & Marco ~ Alexandria, Virginia Engagement Photographer

This was a special session for me to photograph. Sarah and I have been friends for over 15+ years and for most of that we have lived apart. I am thankful that through the years we have been able to keep in touch and guess what….we now live in the same city!!!! It is very exciting for me 🙂 This Fall we met up for a mini-session and then some yummy Vietnamese food. My favorite part of the whole session is watching Marco (Sarah’s hubby) discover Fall! He is originally from South Africa (by way of Taiwan where he met Sarah) and for the first 5 years he lived in the US they lived in South Florida, which equals no Fall 🙂 All in all it was a great time!
