Since all posts deserve a picture here is a sneak peak from another early sunrise session 🙂
It is a tradition in the DC area to make a trip down to the National Mall during the peak week for the cherry blossom trees. I can now said that I have seen it at sunrise 🙂 When Katie & Andy asked for a cherry blossom session I warned them that it was going to be early to avoid the crowds, but they were totally game for it. So we headed down to the Mall at 6:30am. Yes, you read that right and to top it off……it was 32 degrees! Man was it a cold morning! Katie & Andy were such troopers though and we got some great images. This cute couple is getting married in August and I can not wait for their wedding! Andy is an engineer and loves architecture and Katie is an interior designer! The details at their wedding are going to be so amazing!

At this point we were so incredibly cold that we had to go get some coffee….so we continued the shoot in a warm loft area!
After we warmed up a bit we headed out to get some more architectural images. Their vision for this is that they would be a small part of a much larger image. So, we headed to the Library of Congress to play 🙂
Just for the record, the next two images were totally unprompted…..yeah I have some awesome clients!

So, last Fall ( yes, last Fall 🙂 ) I was able to participate in the Prevail Workshop (hosted by the amazing Jared Bauman). We went over so many aspects of photography, but what I loved most is that we focused on the business aspect. So many photographers love photography and end up going into business for themselves, but the majority of us do not know how to run a business. I have heard it said that when you have your own photography business 90% is business and 10% is photography. It is so true! Right now I have to schedule pure editing days because my days are full of taxes, marketing, networking meetings, Quickbooks, contracts, and I could go on and on. It gets to the point where I actually crave editing 🙂 Business lessons from a seasoned photographer is priceless! You can’t have a group of photographers together though for a long period of time without some shooting though. So, we headed out into Old Town, Alexandria and got some cute images of Zack & Katie. Some of you might recognize Katie form my Bridal Show booth. She is a friend of mine that loves photography and loves weddings, so she volunteered to help me! When Jared asked if I knew a couple who would love to have their pictures done the first couple I thought of was Zack & Katie. I was only able to get a handful of images but love how they came out. Hopefully I will get a full session with these two this year 🙂

Audrey emailed me several months ago to schedule her engagement session with her sweetie, Zac. We had it all scheduled and then sickness took over (boo 🙁 ) so we rescheduled. Then on an absolute gorgeous day in late January (it was seriously like 70 degrees!!!) the insane winds, upwards of 50+ miles an hour, prevented session #2. We were determined that try #3 would work and it couldn’t have been a prettier day! This session was so much fun. Both Audrey & Zac wanted to incorporate the Lincoln memorial into their images. While they did not meet in DC this is where they fell in love and wanted to make sure to document that. They will be getting married this July in Florida on the beach! So fun 🙂
