It’s a boy!!!

The anticipation was so great.  Rob was deployed when the time came for the anatomy scan at 20 weeks and so Rob & Mary decided to leave the gender of their unborn baby a secret.  Mary being the planner though wanted a backup in case they changed their minds, so she had the doctor write it on a notecard.  Mary had the envelope in her house for 20ish weeks and never once peeked!!!  I don’t know how they did it 🙂  The day came for the birth (more on that later) and they got the best surprise, baby Parker!  I was able to join them at their home for a newborn session when Parker was 5 days old (perfect window of time for those planning their newborn sessions!).  It was such great afternoon 🙂  Take a look and leave a comment for the new parents!

Mary & Rob – He is a doll – no he is a prince 🙂  Enjoy your snuggles!

Throughout Mary’s pregnancy they called the baby peanut.  We though it was only appropriate to do an image with this book 🙂

Look at that furrowed brow!

Just like their maternity session, Mary had several Pinterest inspired images she wanted.

I couldn’t decide which one I liked, so you get both!

Mary’s mom made Parker this turtle blanket…

Dad’s tie from their wedding 🙂

Love these next two – such strength and innocence…

Simone ~ Virginia Baby Photographer

One of the best things about doing portraits is that I get to see families grow.  I was honored to photograph the birth of baby Simone last November and then do her newborn portraits shortly before Christmas.  So, when I got an email from Simone’s mom that they wanted to do 6 month pictures I was thrilled!!!  She has gotten so big and is full of so much personality 🙂  Here are a few from our mini session (we did her 6 month pictures while doing an extended family session)…..

Isn’t she a doll?!?!

LOVE her!!

Hanging out with daddy!

Announcing to the world ~ Virginia newborn photographer

I love birth announcements.  I really do!  When a little miracle enters this world (yes I do believe it is a miracle every time!) how can you not celebrate and announce to the world that your miracle arrived?  They are also so fun to design!  Here is one design from a little over a year ago (gasp!) when Asher was born.  I have been doing family images for this family for 5+ years now and have had the privilege of documenting the newborn stage for two of their three boys.  Mom is known for loving her organic food so when I saw this design I knew that I had to use it 🙂

If you would like to find out more information about newborn announcements, email me at heather@heatherbeephoto.com.

Welcome baby Simone ~ DC Birth & Newborn Photographer

As the due date approached I anxiously anticipated the call that Simone’s mom was in labor.  Her due date came and went and poor mom was still very much pregnant.  At almost 42 weeks the doctors/widwives (Wisdom Midwifery) decided that for a variety of reasons they needed to help things along.  After many hours Simone arrived weighing in at 9 lbs  1.2 oz & 21 in long.   It was such a pleasure meeting this family and celebrating in their long awaited miracle.  For privacy reasons I will not be sharing the birth slideshow but here is one image from after she was born…

Isn’t she a doll??  Around a month old we were able to do her newborn session in the couple’s home.  For this post I am going to show all black & white images.  I love how classic they look and Simone was a perfect model 🙂

I LOVE this one with her mommy……so precious!

I think that this image (or something like it) is a request of every newborn session client…it is always a classic though:)

A Birth Story ~ DC Birth Photographer

All day I had been getting updates as Megan’s labor progressed and then at 9:45 that night I got the call that she was headed to the hospital.  I got all my stuff in the car and took off for George Washington Hospital.  Megan had felt that her labor had been progressing at a slow rate all day so I had prepared for a long night.  I had a venti-skim Carmel Macchiato & was ready to spend the entire night in the hospital.  I finally found the parking garage (am I the only one who hates parking in the District??) and made my way through security.  Finally arriving on the Labor & Delivery floor the nurse checking me in rushed me through and told me it wouldn’t be long.  Turns out Megan was 9 centimeters when she arrived at the hospital!!!  She had done most of the laboring while at home and he would be here soon!   She did amazing and not long later Caleb Zachary was born.

Megan & Zig – It was truly an honor to welcome this new life into your family, thank you!  Blessings as you adjust to a family of five 🙂
