Announcing to the world ~ Virginia newborn photographer

I love birth announcements.  I really do!  When a little miracle enters this world (yes I do believe it is a miracle every time!) how can you not celebrate and announce to the world that your miracle arrived?  They are also so fun to design!  Here is one design from a little over a year ago (gasp!) when Asher was born.  I have been doing family images for this family for 5+ years now and have had the privilege of documenting the newborn stage for two of their three boys.  Mom is known for loving her organic food so when I saw this design I knew that I had to use it 🙂

If you would like to find out more information about newborn announcements, email me at heather@heatherbeephoto.com.

Baby shower fun!

A few weeks ago I had to privilege of throwing a baby shower for a good friend of mine.  I love hosting/throwing parties and love all the planning.  I don’t know if I have ever thrown a party without a theme (some more subtle than others).  I love a good theme 🙂  So, for this shower I decided to go with the “ABC” theme after finding these ABC printable cards on Pinterest (which by the way is so addictive & helpful in the same moment!).  I printed off the ABC cards and then mounted them on bright colored cardstock.  Each person wrote on the back on the card something special for the mom.  I am planning on making them into a little flip book for her to read to her baby girl and herself 🙂  Before the party got going I took a few images of the decor.  So, take a peak and let me know what you think 🙂

The baby’s nursery colors are full of bright colors so all of the decor centered around that.  Two of the main colors are teal & purple, so I tried my hand at a wreath I found on Pinterest to tie in the colors.

I originally saw a button bouquet on Emily Jones Design blog and knew that I had to make one at some point.  They are so adorable!!  I still have this one on my coffee table 🙂

On the day of the shower it was cold and rainy so we had a hot tea bar….

Many of the guests attend my church (DC Metro Church) and we were all in the middle of a 21 Day Fast where we gave up something to focus more time on our walk with God.  A lot of us gave up sugar, carbs, or something of the like.  That being said I had to be creative with what snacks to have 🙂

I love having a full house 🙂

Looking forward to meeting baby girl and getting to take her newborn images 🙂

Welcome baby Simone ~ DC Birth & Newborn Photographer

As the due date approached I anxiously anticipated the call that Simone’s mom was in labor.  Her due date came and went and poor mom was still very much pregnant.  At almost 42 weeks the doctors/widwives (Wisdom Midwifery) decided that for a variety of reasons they needed to help things along.  After many hours Simone arrived weighing in at 9 lbs  1.2 oz & 21 in long.   It was such a pleasure meeting this family and celebrating in their long awaited miracle.  For privacy reasons I will not be sharing the birth slideshow but here is one image from after she was born…

Isn’t she a doll??  Around a month old we were able to do her newborn session in the couple’s home.  For this post I am going to show all black & white images.  I love how classic they look and Simone was a perfect model 🙂

I LOVE this one with her mommy……so precious!

I think that this image (or something like it) is a request of every newborn session client…it is always a classic though:)

Brooklyn ~ Virginia Baby Photographer

I love when friends come into town – especially when they are bringing with them their 2.5 month old 🙂  Brian & Maureen are currently living in Germany and when I got an email saying they were coming to the DC metro area I couldn’t have been more thrilled!  The last time we saw each other was when they came back from a deployment in Iraq to do paperwork (there is a TON of paperwork in the military by the way!) before heading over to Germany for 3 years.  Right before they left we were having dinner together and as girls do Maureen and I were talking families.  Not long into the conversation she gave me a slight smile and told me that they had just found out she was pregnant!  Brooklyn was born in late March in Germany.  While they were stateside we did a dinner date again and before tried to squeeze in a mini-baby session.  There were some major storms coming in that day so we didn’t get much time with the “golden light” (the light 45 minutes before sunset), but we still got some great ones!

Brian & Maureen – Thank you for being so patient and understanding with the storms and all 🙂  Brooklyn is a doll & I look forward to our next visit 🙂

Seriously, how adorable!!!

At this point the storm had made it so dark but we tried to get just a couple family images:)

Sister love ~ DC Family & Baby Photographer

A few weeks ago I was able to photograph some adorable kiddos.  This cute family just welcomed twin baby girls not too long ago (they are around 5 months).  Their mom has just gone back to work and dad is deployed so as you can imagine their house is a busy one!  It is worth it though to see all the smiles and giggles 🙂  Mom has been so patient in waiting for these so on to the images!
